Mikael NordforsMikael Nordfors is a medical doctor currently working with holistic treatment of cancer, psychiatric problems and pain conditions in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is co-author of the international bestseller “Hypericum & Depression”, which introduced the antidepressant plant St. Johns wort to the non-German speaking part of the world. Besides being i medical doctor and author, he has also composed music and interpreted classical masterpieces on synthesizers. He has been interested in treatment of the so-called Piriformis Syndrome and has written an article called The Deep Gluteal Syndrome, an underestimated etiological factor for Sciatica, Low Back Pain and other chronic pain conditions? published on this website. His results imply that most cases of low back pain and sciatica can be substantially improved with very safe, cheap and efficient measures, and that this syndrome is severely under diagnosed. He had several fights against the Swedish health authorities, “Socialstyrelsen”, who claims this syndrome does not exist, despite ie an MR study from the Cedar Sinai clinic showing >70% of chronic sciatica is from the Piriformis Syndrome.  There have been four court cases, where he and one of his pupils did win against Socialstyrelsen, but no-one has highlighted this in the media, which in spite of the huge public interest of publishing these data, turned their back at Mikael and started to accuse him falsely of inventing fake diagnosis in order to sexually exploit his patients and similar things. This has happened not only to Mikael, but also to many other doctors in Scandinavia and the world who has been challenging the official medical dogmas. These false media accusations made his public career very difficult, as many patients and employers believed what was published.

Anyhow, he got work at the private cancer clinic Humlegaarden, where he learned a lot about both conventional and alternative cancer treatments like hyperthermia, LDN, DCA, GcMAF, Bio-Immune Therapy according to Thomas Tallberg, cancer psychotherapy according to Fred Levenson and many other complementary cancer therapies.

He can also take private psychotherapy patients and treat patients with back pain, fibromyalgia and sciatica. He can prescribe LDN for all kinds of autoimmune diseases.

He is also a licensed practitioner of LnB pain therapy, a system originating from ancient Greece that treats most pain conditions with special stretching exercises, pressure points and general health advice. LnB pain therapy is used by the German national team in skiing and soccer. He currently has his medical practice in the Second Opinion Clinic in Copenhagen, Denmark, which is also specializing in immunology, anti-aging medicine and alternative psychiatric treatments.

Body Awareness – Do a Check

When you have a job that requires sitting down the whole day, you know how stiff or even painful your body can feel at the end of the day. The reason is that, throughout the day, you have been ignoring the messages that your body is always giving you, “this position hurts”, “get up and stretch”, “time to quit and rest” and some more that you can probably fill out yourself.

If you ignore these messages – if you go through the day living between the top of your head and your chin, you won’t be aware of your back pain until it’s too late. The pain and other symptoms will be more severe and; therefore, it will be much harder to fix.

Time For Your Body Check!

Follow these 2 simple tips on how you could avoid this.

  • Set an alarm in your phone, computer or watch for every hour while you’re awake. For the next 15 – 30 seconds after the alarm sounds, check your body. How does every part of your body feel? Give attention to your toes, feet, legs, back (lower and upper part), stomach area, chest, shoulders, neck, arms, hands, fingers and your head. If you already are in pain, then you definitely need to make this very important “appointment” with yourself every 15 minutes! Then make sure that you move your body. Preferably walk away from you job and go to the toilet, printer, copier etc and do some small exercises and stretch. If you can’t walk away, then at least try to stand up every once in a while and stretch your body.

 

  • Are you sitting correctly? If not, lift your breastbone. Are your shoulders up around your ears? Lower them.

If you would do this every hour, pretty soon, checking on your body throughout the day will become automatic and you won’t need the alarm anymore.

3 Reasons Why You Should Take Up Weight Training

Many people see weight training as something reserved for bodybuilders and figure competitors. But nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, everyone who cares about their health should engage in weight training on a regular basis.

Here are three ways that weight training will benefit you.

1. Weight training can help prevent back pain.

Most people suffer from back pain at some time in their lives. In many cases, this is caused by the spine being unstable because the muscles in the back, legs and abdomen are weak. By training your core with weights, you’ll strengthen those muscles. Having strong muscles can stop back pain happening.

2. As you get older, you’ll look and feel a lot younger than your peer group.

After the age of 30, people start to lose their muscle mass year by year. To put it bluntly, they get more flabby. Weight training will help prevent this. You’ll stay firm in your older age.

Not only is this aesthetically appealing, you’ll also maintain your mobility into your very old age. That means you won’t need to depend on people to get up from your chair or get help walking. You’ll keep your independence and even be able to enjoy playing with your grandchildren.

3. Working out with weights can help prevent osteoporosis.

As people move into old age, they tend to experience rapid bone loss. This is even more common in women, especially after they’ve gone through the menopause. It can even lead to osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis is a serious health problem in which your bones are brittle and easily broken. What many people don’t realize is that weight training doesn’t only strengthen your muscles, but also your bones. That means you can prevent osteoporosis by regular weight bearing exercises combined with good nutrition.

But I don’t want to be bulky!

Contrary to popular belief, doing regular weight training doesn’t make you bulky. People who build up their bulk actually train specifically for that purpose. For regular fitness enthusiasts, especially women, it’s unlikely that they’ll become muscular like professional bodybuilders.

Also, weight training doesn’t mean you have to visit your local gym regularly. You can train at home just as easily without using barbells or gym equipment.

Weight training simply means exercising with weights. So, the weights could be dumbbells, or kettlebells, or any old heavy things lying around your house. On my home weight training site, I show people how to easily and cheaply train with weights at home.
